Viewing unread e mail

i have created a rule to move incoming e mail to a specific folder.  The problem is ihave several folders and i can't seem to easily find unread mail.  i tried to move acopy instead of move, but that leaves me with unread messages in my sub-folder.  i tried experimenting with custom views, but i can only seem to create one for each individual folder.  Is there a way for me to create a view to show unread mail in all folders?
